From June 10-12, 2012, The Samuels Group | Environments team of Laura Meurette, Sarah Butts, Monica Wierzba, Casey Nick, Kelly Sampson, Eileen Frank and Jennifer Guerndt attended NeoCon 2012, North America’s largest design exposition and conference for commercial interiors. This year’s show entitled, “Think Big” was held at its usual venue, The Merchandise Mart in Chicago, IL.
Laura Meurette, Senior Designer for Environments remarked, “It was nice to see that things are on an upswing, for nearly the last decade, commercial interior manufacturers have seen a downward trend. At this year’s NeoCon, there were several new products, some very tech saavy new interior options and a general mood that indicated that things are turning around.”
One example of the new technological products that Meurette mentioned was seen in a trend toward organizing cabling and the spaghetti of electronic cords behind most people’s desks these days. This issue was addressed by OFS’ new product, Trace, introduced at the show. Trace features VGA and HDMI support as well as USB and 110 Volt components built directly into a table which makes using the ubiquitous electronic devices we all rely on in an office easier and more organized.
The Environments team also had the chance to see new products and learn more about their brands such as OFS First Office and Herman Miller. Featured at this year’s NeoCon were open collaborative work spaces and furniture for helping bring people together in an office such as Herman Miller’s Swoop lounge furniture.
Environments designer Sarah Butts was impressed by Herman Miller’s display at NeoCon 2012, “With just a few product additions, they were able to reinvent their showroom by showcasing products in unique, innovative ways, allowing you to think outside of the box when approaching the design of both commercial and higher education spaces.”
NeoCon gave The Environments team a chance to get a more in-depth look at the products they use in their designs and to contemplate strategies for implementation of these commercial interior products. The 2012 show provided the team with many great ideas to bring to your next interior project. Let them share their expertise with your business by calling Environments today!
