Here are some classic Herman Miller “commercials” you’ll find entertaining. I think the first few are Eames employees goofing off. I watch Mad Men, I know things were different back then, but I don’t think the blatant “HR problem” boss featured in this video along with the “Herman Miller saddle,” which actually didn’t look too comfortable for the cowboy riding his horse on it, are actual Herman Miller marketing from the 60′s. The final video, “Action Secretary,” which seems like it was produced in the 1970′s was definitely meant for clients and it alone shows how much has changed in only about 30 years. The Action Secretary does have a pretty nice butterfly collar shirt that might be kinda back in right now though.

Herman Miller’s new healthcare showroom at its Greenhouse facility in Holland, Michigan was recently highlighted by Monday Morning Quarterback, a contract furnishing blog and newsletter.  In its June 27-July 3, 2011 edition MMQB focused on the recently unveiled showroom.

MMQB’s story relates that the showroom was redesigned to better showcase Herman Miller’s healthcare lines including the newly acquired Nemschoff brand and products that have been rolled into the Herman Miller for Healthcare banner such as Brandrud.

It’s NeoCon time again!  The world furniture exposition at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart has kicked off this week.  There are thousands of new and innovative products being introduced this year at NeoCon including a brand new line from Herman Miller.

Beginning in September 2011 Herman Miller will be the sole distributor of the Magis line of products in the United States and Canada.  Magis is a leading Italian furniture manufacturer of café seating, tables, stools, outdoor furniture, storage and accessories.

All week at NeoCon, you can see Konstantine Grcic’s Chair_One and Stool_One in the south lobby space of the Merchandise Mart. The Herman Miller showroom features the XZ3 Table. Workstations include Trash Cans by Jasper Morrison.

The article details the opening of the house to the public for tours as the Miller House and Garden.  Designed by Eero Saarinen who was also the designer of Saint Louis’ Gateway Arch, the Miller home is also a part of Herman Miller history.

Herman Miller’s Design blog details how both Alexander Girard and Ray and Charles Eames were part of designing the house and J. Irwin Miller’s need for outdoor furniture led to the development of the Eames Aluminum Group lounge chair.
